If you work for a government contractor in Northern Virginia, you know the routine. Your client is on Eisenhower Avenue. Your company's office is in Reston, Tysons or Herndon. And somewhere between the two, your team loses an hour each way.
Cowo & Crèche sits at 2034 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, a short walk from the USPTO and NSF campuses. Here's how contract teams use a space like ours, and what to look for if you're considering one.
The space between meetings
Many contract staff split their week between a client site and their own desk. On client days, the hours between meetings disappear into coffee shops and parked cars.
A nearby workspace turns those hours into real work: a quiet desk, reliable Wi-Fi, a private room for a call, a printer. It also gives a team a place to meet in person without driving back to headquarters.
When a proposal is due
Proposal work needs a different kind of room. For a few weeks, a capture team needs a door that closes, wall space, a screen, and somewhere to rehearse orals in front of a mock panel.
Our Proposal War Room is built for that: a private room for up to 8 people, reserved for 4 weeks, with 4 hours in our Performance Hall for color reviews or orals rehearsal. It costs $3,500 for the four weeks.
What to look for in contractor workspace
Location you can walk from. Minutes matter when you're running between a client meeting and a team huddle.
Rooms you can close. Open coworking is fine for email, but not for client calls or proposal strategy.
A real meeting room. Ours seats up to 15 with a screen and AV.
Parking. Ask about it before you sign anything. We have garage parking on site.
Flexible terms. Contracts change. A month-to-month option protects you when a task order ends early.
A setup for small teams
Not every team needs a dedicated suite. Our Corridor Team Pass gives a team 5 drop-in seats and 8 meeting-room hours a month for $1,250, and you can cancel any month. For people who need a permanent spot, private offices start at $1,095 a month.
Something most office buildings don't have
We also run a childcare program in the same building. For contractors with young children, that can mean dropping off on the way in and having lunch with your toddler on a long proposal day. Childcare enrollment is separate from workspace, and we're happy to walk you through both.
Try it before you commit
We'd rather you see it than take our word for it. Use the space free for two days. If it doesn't work for your team, you owe nothing.
